By D. Strong
The tire gauge and tread depth gauge works very well. It is nice having both in one unit making it easier to carry one tool around. The digital read out for the tire pressure is easy to read. The tread depth indicator is okay for the small size. I don't think there is anything that would work better.

Based on the good reviews in Amazon I purchased several of these as Christmas stocking gifts. Although they were described as "easy to connect," some of the recipients were unable to use the gauge on their particular car/motorcycle/bicycle. For those where the connection worked, they were very pleased, but others could not use the gauge because of leaks at the connection.

"Does Not Work In Cold Weather" 2008-03-15
By Ann Maxwell (Oak Park, Il.)
I purchased this pressure gauge late February 2008. I have kept this gauge inside my house when not in use. Well, last week, I left the gauge in the garage for a few days where the overnight temperatures got down to just below 30 degrees F. When I went to use the gauge a few days later it would not work at all. I brought the gauge inside for a couple hours and checked it after it "warmed up". It worked fine. I put it back outside for 1 hour when the temp was about 33 degrees F. Again....it would not work. What a pain in the ole keister. This gauge is not worth it unless you live in areas of the country that are always warm. I'm going to try to return this gauge and buy a different brand.

 "Excellent Product" 2008-10-03
By R. Penny (New Braunfels, TX USA)
I purchased the Moroso 89562 gage in order to insure maximum life and best performance for the very expensive high-performance tires on my new car. I have had too many tires in the past end up with uneven wear from improper inflation through my use of standard-grade economy gages. I was determined that would not happen again. The cost of this gage seemed high at first, but it is only a small fraction of the cost of a new set of high-performance tires. I have three cars and this gage showed that every one of them had incorrect pressures. This is the only gage I have owned where I feel confident that the tire pressure is correct (I have worked with scientific instrumentation throughout my 30+ year career as a physicist).

I chose to go with the mechanical movement in this gage (as opposed to the electronic sensor technology used in some other gages). My faith in a well-built mechanical gage was higher because I felt that it was easier (simpler and less costly) to build an accurate mechanical gage than an electronic gage with the same accuracy. NOTE: Do not confuse ACCURACY with PRECISION. Most manufacturers get this wrong. Accuracy is the ability of the gage to read pressure correctly on an absolute scale. Precision is the ability to see differences between two pressure readings. Most manufactures claim high degrees of accuracy for their gages when they really mean precision. High accuracy is the specification that you need in inflating to the correct pressure.

The readings from this gage are repeatable (the same from one reading to the next) and easy to view on its large scale. The seal between the tire chuck and the valve stem is excellent resulting in virtually no air leakage. You do have to hold the gage upright (as mentioned in the instructions) in order to get an accurate reading.

This is a high-quality instrument that comes in a fitted protective storage case. It should easily pay for itself in longer tire life (replace them less often) and better tire performance (better traction and fuel economy). I highly recommend this gage to anyone - but especially to those who have high-performance and/or expensive tires.

The unit is said to shut off automatically, but I only got one use from it before it died. I'm not sure if the problem was with the batteries (which are supposed to last a "lifetime"), but I didn't care to spend over $10 for replacements to find out.

I've used it quite a few times and agree with the reviewers that said it was difficult to get a good seal. In addition, this morning while trying to open the case, which is not particularly easy, the gauge popped out and dropped about 2 ft. After that, the backlit LCD screen did not work, making it very difficult to read.

"Good high-pressure gauge. Neg for flimsy body and cover." 2009-08-01
By smgsmc
I have the Moroso 89560 (0-60 psi) gauge, which is fine for my day-to-day needs (regular auto tires, 30-35 psi). My compact spares, however, operate at 60 psi. Since you can damage a gauge by exposing it to excessive pressures, I wanted a gauge with a higher range. The compact spare pressure doesn't need to be spot on, and I didn't want to shell out $40, so I bought a $16 unit. I had to return it for a leaky valve and noxious fumes. I looked at other gauges for <$20, and their reviews expressed similar complaints (I suspect several of the gauges are the same, just branded and packaged differently.). So I've reluctantly shelled out $40. I have a separate review on the model 89560. Here are some additional comments.

(1) Range. The 89560 reads from 0-60 psi. Tick marks are in 1 psi increments. Moroso gauges have slightly larger faces (~2-1/4" diam reading area) than most gauges (~1-7/8" diam reading area); you can estimate readings to the nearest 1/2 psi. The 89570 reads from 0-100 psi. Tick marks are in 2 psi increments; you can estimate readings to the nearest 1 psi. Many high pressure gauges range from 0 to 120, 150, or 160 psi. With the larger ranges and smaller dials, you can estimate only to the nearest 2 psi or so.

(2) Comparison of readings. I compared the Morosos 89560 and 89570 and Accutire MS-5510B (digital gauge) for pressures in the ~30 psi range. All three read within 1 psi of each other. The 89570 works well as a backup gauge for regular auto tires.

(3) Construction quality. The mechanical construction of the 89560 and 89570 are the same. Hose, bleed valve, and fittings are heavy-duty industrial grade. In the 89560,the hose was too stiff and the socket was too tight in the beginning (got better with use). In the 89570, the hose and socket were "just right" right out of the package. Probably due to manufacturing variation. No leakage at fittings or bleeder valve. As mentioned in my 89560 review, the gauge (especially the plastic dial cover) is a bit flimsy, especially for this $.

(4) Rubber boot. Get the rubber boot for sure. Even if you don't bang the gauge around, the plastic dial cover tends to pop off; the boot will keep it in place. Others have mentioned installing the boot without removing the hose and bleed valve assembly. This may be dicey. The cutout in the boot is only about 1/2" square. The hose and bleed valve assembly is about 1" diam at the grip and at the bleed valve. The rubber is tough, but I'd be concerned about tearing it. You need to unscrew the hose and bleed valve assembly from the gauge very carefully. This unit was also way over-torqued. Don't grab the gauge body and twist, you'll break it. Use two wrenches. Be patient.

(5) Hold reading. The gauge does not hold the pressure reading when the socket is removed from the valve stem. This is OK. Holding the reading is important only if you can't read the gauge when it is seated on the tire. This gauge has a hose and a full-swivel socket fitting...no problems reading the gauge regardless of the position and angle of the valve stem.

"Best Gauge I EVER used" 2009-06-29
By Kevin Lee (San Francisco)
While I thought that spending ~$50 on an Air Gauge was a bit too much, I'm glad to have spent my money on this gauge. This gauge is extremely accurate for day to day usage on normal cars and motorcycles. While cars do not need to be too precise, motorcycles tires must be exact. 10 PSI off and you could wear your tire very prematurely.

Aside from being very accurate, there is a luxury item that does come with this product and that is the bleed valve button. This is great feature is great. I will intentionally slightly over inflate my tires so that I can use the bleed valve to get it back down to exact factory specifications or desired PSI. No more bleeding the valve and then taking the measurement again over and over until desired PSI, now it's just a push of the button.

If you decide to purchase this Tire Pressure Gauge, you MUST get the Tire Pressure Gauge Protective Cover accessory (Moroso 89590). Remember this is a precision instrument and is prone to small bumps. Having a rubber armor over my gauge gives me a big piece of mind.

This gauge was delivered very promptly as advertised and is the most accurate tire gauge I have ever owned. My truck emails me when my tire's air pressure is the slightest bit low and with this Accutire digital gauge it makes it easy to verify exactly how many pounds of pressure is needed for safe driving conditions and also aids in saving fuel when my tires are properly inflated. Very light weight and stores easily in my console. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is concerned about safe driving and getting the most out of every gallon of fuel for their automobile.

 "Good enough" 2008-05-06
By JR (Sutton, MA USA)
I give it 5 stars because it seems to fulfill its duties as designed.

I just wish to )#(*$ somebody would make one of these things with a guage ranged for passenger car tires, instead of all tires known to man.

I've been looking at a bunch of different brands, but every one I've found goes up to 120 lbs. The highest I will ever need to go is about 40 lbs. That basically makes this pressure guage useless. It's good for ballpark measuring, but you still need to stick a more accurate guage on to get the real reading.

Why can't somebody just make one for car/light truck tires only???? The same guage would be fine, but just calibrated with a range from say 20 to 50 lbs. It would be more than twice as accurate (assuming it's well made), and more than twice as easy to read.

Instead of shooting for "somewhere slightly less than half" of the little 1/8" gap between 30 and 40 - you could actually fill to 34 - or whatever your need is.

I'm sure some company out there has caught on to this need - I just can't find them.

If you've found one, please comment to my review!
